Arithmancy is an ancient system of fortune-telling based on names and numbers. For over 2,000 years, people have used Arithmancy to analyze their strengths and weaknesses, overcome obstacles, and predict the future.
How It Works
The first step in analyzing a name (or word) by arithmancy is to convert it to a set of numbers. Each letter of the alphabet is assigned a numerical value between 1 and 9, according to the following chart:

The letters A, J, S have the value of 1, the letters B, K, T have the value of 2, and so on.
To analyze a name, you write it down, and beneath each letter enter the corresponding numerical value.
For example I'll do my name:

Now add up the numbers, in my case it is 94.
If the total is higher than 9, which in most case it is, it must be reduced to a single digit by adding the components together, more than once if necessary. In my case, 94 reduces to 13, which reduces to 4.
The final result, which in my case is 4, is known as the Character Number.
The character number indicates the general personality type of the individual.
The next number calculated will be the Heart Number, which represents the individual's inner life and can indicate desires & fears hidden from others.
The Heart Number is the reduced total of all the vowels in the name. In my case, the total is 31 which reduces to 4. So my Heart Number is also 4.
The next number calculated is the Social Number, which represents the outer personality.
The Social Number is the reduced total of all the consonants in the name. In my case, the total is 63 which reduces to 9. So, my social number is 9.
