Wandering With Werewolves
Description:The werewolf is found worldwide, though it is believed to have been originated in Northern Europe. Humans turn into Werewolves only when bitten. There is no known cure, though recent developments in potion-making have to a great extent alleviated the worst symptoms. Once a month, at the full moon, the otherwise sane normal wizard or muggle afflicted transforms into a murderous beast. Almost uniquely among fantastic creatures, the werewolf actively seeks humans in preference to any other kind of prey.
Werewolves are immune from aging and from most physical diseases due to the constant regeneration of their physical tissue. They can, therefore, be virtually immortal. However, they can be killed by any wound that destroys the heart or the brain, or any form of death that causes brain or heart damage (such as hanging or other oxygen-deprivation methods).
Werewolf Packs
Like real wolves, werewolves can live alone for many years, yet the instinct for a pack often leads them away from their secretive lifestyle, into revealing their nature to a priest or close associate, or converting another to werewolfry for companionship. This is when the otherwise cagey werewolf opens himself to dection! Werewolf packs cause immense destruction. A pack consists of one werewolf who became a werewolf through sorcery, birth, or curse - in other words, his is the original tainted blood. This werewolf is called the Alpha werewolf. The remaining werewolves in the pack are called Beta werewolves because they became werewolves through the bite of the Alpha and carry the Alpha's tainted blood.
Werewolves in Society
Throughout the years Werewolves have been feared and shunned. Werewolves have been shunted into The Beast and Beings Divisions of The Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures for years. Anyone that becomes a Werewolf must register with the Werewolf registry, there is also a Werewolf capture Unit. There is also an office of Werewolf Support services in the being division. As you can see Werewolves are treated as beasts. It is very hard for Werewolves to find work. Many Werewolves are poor and feel they are outcasts to society. Many Wizards and Witches look down on Werewolves and do not accept them at all. Most Werewolves are normal people who wouldn't hurt a fly, but when the full moon comes they transform. Most people do not understand that it is not their fault, they do not willingly transform into a murderous beast.
Signs of The Werewolf
The Wizard or Muggle looks sick, is very pale and looks extremly exausted. They seem to disapeer once a month, if you track the times they are gone you will notice it is always on the time of the full moon. They do not talk much about their illness. You might notice that they take a potion the week before they are gone.
Wolfsbane Potion
This is a recent discovery. This potion needs very great potion skills to make, it takes a long period of time to get it perfect. If a Werewolf drinks this potion on week prior to the full moon, they will become harmless during their transformation. They can then just hide away for a week and will harm no one. This potion is hard to come by as there are not many wizards who have the skills to make it.
