She raced down the dark alley glancing behind her constantly. Her breath was heavy and cold. She glanced behind her again and ran straight into someone falling down. She looked up and saw him, the man in the black hooded coat.
“Noooo!!!!!” she yelled as he brought the knife to her throat.
“What are you doing?” someone yelled from the end of the alley. The man in the hooded black coat stood up and in a state of panic slashed the girl on her arm. Blood gushed from her arm as tears ran down her cheek.
“Help!” she yelled before she blacked out and collapsed onto the cold stone ground.

My eyes shot open as I sat upright in my bed. I was breathing hard and sweat was dripping from my forehead. I quickly felt on my arm, feeling for blood or a cut. There was nothing, nothing but pain. I could feel the pain the girl felt and the fear.
‘Why?’ I thought to myself, still on the verge of tears from the pain, ‘Why does this happen to me? Who is the girl? Why can I feel her pain?’ It was the third time that week I had that dream. And before that I had different dreams similar to that one. Always ending in someone getting hurt and I can feel it too. When the pain finally faded I looked at my clock and decided it was time to get out of bed. 7:30 a.m. is early for me but I didn’t dare go back to sleep.
I went downstairs and kissed my mom on the cheek.
“Good morning.” I said.
“Good morning honey.” She said cheerfully, “Do you want to go to Diagon Alley today. You need to go shopping.”
“I would love to.” I smiled. I grabbed a muffin from a basket on the kitchen table and walked back upsatirs.
My mom called after me, “Sapphire, we are leaving at one!”
“Ok.” I yelled back. It was just me and my mom now. I am an only child and that doesn’t bother me. My father died the day I found out I was a witch. I remember that day like it was yesterday.
That morning I trotted down the steps to find my Mom and my Dad huddled around a letter sitting on my kitchen counter.
“What’s going on?” I asked.
“Sweetie, we have some news.” my Mom said calmly.
“Well, what is it?”
“Sapphire, umm…I don’t know really how to say this but, you’re a witch.” she said.
“I know I can be a little moody sometimes but I don’t think it’s fair to call me a witch.” I replied in shock.
“No, you don’t understand, you…have…magical…powers.” My father said slowly. I looked at them with my mouth open and a little creeped out.
“Don’t take this the wrong way but what drugs are you to on?” I said still not believing what they told me.
“Here, if you don’t believe me here’s proof.” My mom said shoving a letter towards me, “Read it.” I picked up the letter and unfolded it carefully. I read what it said and looked up at my parents.
“Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry?” I said questionably .
“Yes, that’s your new school, where you will be attending starting this year.”
“NO!! I have a life, I have friends. I can’t just stop now to go off and be a…a…a witch!! How could this happen. Are either of you witches or wizards or whatever they‘re called.” I yelled and my parents both shook their heads, “Then this is impossible it must be a joke!”
“Honey, it will be good for you. It a very nice school with tons of great people and classes. I really would appreciate it if you would calm down and just think about it. You should go.” My dad said touching my shoulder.
“Don’t touch me. I hate you!!” I screamed. I ran upstairs and quickly got dressed. As soon as I was clothed I ran out of the house and started walking. I didn’t know where I was going but I knew I couldn’t stay there. I ended up at my friend, Lizzie’s, house. About 4 hours later Lizzie handed me the phone.
“It’s your mom, she’s crying.” she told me.
“She’s probably just worried.” I replied then putting the phone to my ear, “Hello?”
“Sapphire.” My mom said crying.
“Yea, I’m sorry I ran away. I’ll never do it again so you can stop crying. I’ll be home in 15 minutes.”
“No, no, it’s no that.”
“Well then why are you crying?” I asked curiously.
“Your father, he…he’s dead.” She said through sobs. My eyes started welling up.
“How did this happen?!?” I asked quietly.
“he went out to look for you and he wasn’t paying attention and a deer was in the road. He swerved away but ended up going down a hill. He died instantly in the crash.” I couldn’t even speak. All that came were tears. Lizzie’s mom rode me home quickly and I ran straight to my room and locked the door. It was my fault my father was dead and I didn’t want to face my mom or anyone else.
After a while I realized that it was an accident. I also realize if I didn’t run away he would still be alive. But I knew my father loved me or else he wouldn’t have been looking for me. Though I still feel horrible about it I found a way to just deal with my pain.
As I looked in the mirror trying to get ready to go to Diagon Alley I noticed all the things that I have that look like my dad. His ears, he smile, and his eyes. His eyes, and mine, are the prettiest blue I’ve ever seen. That’s where I got my name, Sapphire, because my eyes look like sapphire’s. I looked at the rest of my appearance. I had a decent body, long dark brown curly hair, my skin was sort of pale compared to most of my tan friends. I finished getting ready and ran downstairs.
“Mom, I’m ready.” I said. I was so excited, I couldn’t wait to go back to Hogwarts and see all my friends.
